Options from your own wool

We can process your own wool into knitting yarns, or you can choose to just have the wool carded, ready for hand spinning or felting.

In knitting yarns we operate with different standards.

5,5/1, 5,5/2 or 5,5/3 yarns.
Standard yarn in 1,2 or 3 ply yarn.
Metric: 550m/100 g, 275 m/100g or 183 m/100 g.

"Hanne Garn" 4/2 looser spun 2 ply yarn metric: 200m/100 g.

"Lynstrik garn" 4/3 . 3 ply yarn metric: 133 m/100g.

For finer wools (Swedish fine wool, Shetland or Merino types) we can produce thinner yarns 8/2 or 10/2 yarn. (400m/100 g, and 500 m/100 g.)

This also goes for angora (rabbit) spinning.

Here we can only produce the angora in a blend of 33 % angora and 67 % other wool (normally fine merino)

Gotlandic wool types:

Can be spun into our standard yarns, but most often we need to add some percentage of more "woolen" wool (merino type) to the blend, as the most Gotlandic wool these days is more hairy (like mohair)

The correct blend is a decision that we must take with each different lot after having seen the wool physically.

Mohair spinning:

We are able to do mohair spinning with minimum 25 % fine merino in the blend.

Standard yarns in mohair are 7/2 yarn (350 m/100 g)
(we can also do the spinning in one or three ply yarns)

Alpaca, camel and other special fibres:

Different options depending on the quality delivered.

Our experience with these fibres are that quality varies a lot., so a decision must be taken individually with each different lot.

Wool supplement for your own wool:

When you need to add other wools to your own wool to achieve the correct blend, you can always buy different wools at the mill.

95 % of our customers who need merino wool choose to buy the needed high quality merino wools from us.
