Processing your own wool

We are able to process various types of woolen fibres.

Beside the ordinary wools we process angora, mohair and Alpaca wools.

A minimum of 10 kg is required in each seperate lot.

To achieve the best possible result all wool delivered to the mill must be well sorted .

"Well sorted" means removal of any straw and manure from the animals.

Very short fibres and very dirty fibres must be removed too.

As a rule the average fibre length must be between 4 and 12 centimeters.

We do not accept felted wool. (The wool must be able to be torn apart by hand)

It is quite different how often the different breeds should be shorn to achieve the best quality in wool.

Some breeds have fast growing wool and should be shorn twice a year, while others only need shearing ones a year.

When shearing your animals, always make sure that they are dry and clean.

Do not keep the sheep on too much straw bedding just before shearing. This will contaminate the wool, and make sorting a lot harder.

Always make sure that shearing takes place on a clean surface and not on the straw bedding.
